WEM is home to a colony of African penguins. With their habitat located in Sea Life Caverns, you can visit the penguins there, see them in our sea lion show or even find them talking a stroll out in the Mall.
About our penguins:
- WEM is home to 24 African penguins
- African penguins are an endangered species
- Following are the names of our penguins: Skadu, Tweeblik, Doug, Taz, Fozzy, Oscar, Big Guy, Magoo, Mulder, Toby, Shadow, Buddy, Sid, Toucan, Pebbles, Bam Bam, Rocket, Lekkers, Yeti, Ernie, Bert, Dayo, Pita, Sweetpea, Channel and Ed.
- The penguins range in age from two to 26 years
- Our penguins are seasoned actors having appeared in various programs including the feature film Good Luck Chuck starring Jessica Alba, the children's television show Zooboomafoo and commercials for Starbucks, TELUS, David Suzuki and Tide.
