Tipping
Tipping is an accepted practice in Alberta. Those employed in the service industry rely heavily on tips and gratuities to augment their basic income, including your waiter/waitress, taxi drivers, airport red cap, hotel staff, motorcoach drivers and tour directors.
The following may be used as a guidline:
Bellpersons and porters: 50c to $1 per bag
Taxi driver: 10 - 15%
Hotel housekeeper: $2 per day
Hotel doorman: $1 - $5 depending on level of service
Garage attendant: $1 - $2
Bathroom attendants: 50c - $1
Concierge (not usual, unless a demanding service was requested and performed): $5 +
Server/Bartender: 10 - 15% depending on level of service
